12-06-12 Israel Protest Leaders Questioned by Police

Israel Police wanted to know the social protest calendar for this summer, so they called the organizers for questioning. (Which means that police had not infiltrated the protest movement so far). In the meanwhile, yours truly is receiving the royal treatment...  But it all looks very civil, almost incompetent, relative to suppression in the United States.

Israel Protest Leaders Questioned by Police

By Haaretz

Published June 12, 2012.

Several leaders of last summer's social protests have been called in for interviews at police stations around the country, in what officials said was an attempt to better prepare its forces for the reprise of demonstrations this summer.

Some activists received summonses in the mail, while others have been visited personally by officers. One such visit yesterday caused some anxiety at the home of Tamir Hajaj, who said his 17-year-old daughter called him in a panic to tell him police officers had come to their home looking for him. Hajaj told his daughter to give the officers his cellphone number.

"They phoned and said I was being called in for investigation," Hajaj said. "When I asked why, they said they want to know my plans for the summer." Hajaj said that last year he kept in touch with police, briefing them on events and demonstrations he organized.

"I think it's because I'm one of the leaders of the social protest and I received a permit to erect a big tent in Rabin Square [in Tel Aviv] on July 1. Everyone knows it'll be the opening shot of the summer, and apparently that frightened them," Hajaj said. "The police already knew my phone number. My daughters are stressed out over it. I'm in shock over the police choosing to come to my house to look for me. There's a much easier way to find me. It smells a little fishy to me," he said.

12-06-12 Party-animal Haim, Temple Mount Radical Yoel, or Dominican Republic Debonair Sam?

The complaint, filed with Israel Police alleged that he was Shabak (secret police) and/or criminal...

Haim/Yoel/Sam?

Jerusalem, June 11 - "THE PARTY IS OVER... LET THE REAL PARTY BEGIN" says Joseph Zernik, PhD, of Human Rights Alert (NGO).

After being showered for several months with quality beverages and other party favors, last Thursday it came to an end. Then, on Saturday, Pietro had to leave the country abruptly. Erik the schlepper, gold bars and diamonds Theo, and "feels the Spirit" John all have left as well.

The person known as "Haim" is the last of that group still around.

In parallel, it turned out that Haim also associated himself with a Jewish orthodox group, likely to be considered radical (in matters related to the Temple Mount). Among such people he was known as "Yoel".

In both areas, it is believed that he attempted to radicalize and create provocations.

With it, we are told that he may soon continue to the Dominican Republic, as debonair Sam.

The complaint, filed by Dr Zernik with Israel Police, alleged that Haim/Yoel/Sam he was Shabak (secret police) and/or criminal...

Dr Zernik was the primary author of the 2010 Human Rights Report, pertaining to Los Angeles County, California. The report was later incorporated into an official United Nations report with a note referring to "Corruption of the courts and the legal profession and discrimination by law enforcement in California."  Dr Zernik is also the primary author of a recent report "Integrity or lack thereof, of the electronic records of the courts of the State of Israel."

The Shabak (General Security Services) reports directly to the Prime Minister, and is also responsible for the Prime Minister's personal security.  The Jewish Division of the Shabak was however involved in a Jewish radical group that assassinated former Prime Minister Yitzhaq Rabin.  Some in Israel also claim that the Shabak asserted its Superiority over the Supreme Court and the rule of law in Israel in the Kav 300 Affair.

"Relative to US law enforcement, the Jewish Division of the Shabak is exemplary civil, or even amateurish," concludes Dr Zernik.

Supreme Court rejects appeals of foreign detainees held more than 10 years at Guantanamo

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to take a new look at the rights of foreign prisoners held for the past decade at the Guantanamo Bay naval base in Cuba. Four years after pronouncing that detainees who face no charges have a right to challenge their ongoing confinement, the justices rejected appeals arguing that the federal appeals court in Washington has largely ignored the high court's command.
