- US banks launder billions in drug cartel moneys with impunity...
- US DOJ was caught engaged in gun running to the Mexican cartels
- Police in Los Angeles and elsewhere are routinely involved in wholesale drug marketing.
- Mexico suffered tens of thousands of civilian casualties in a civil strife of unprecedented savagery in recent years.
- The War on Drugs has long been declared a failure by international bodies.
- The UN Crime Commissioner issued a report, assessing that in 2008-9 the US banking system would have collapsed, absent cash inflow from the drug cartels, and
- US for profit prisons are filled to over capacity with small time drug offenders....
Criminologists are in agreement:
The worst societal cost of failing drug policies in Mexico, the US, and elsewhere is total corruption of the justice systems.
Mexico Arrests Violent Drug Kingpin

Mexico has captured the head of the notoriously vicious Zetas drug cartel. Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, known as “Z-40,” was caught in Nuevo Laredo by Mexican Marines. He’s reputed to be exceptionally dangerous and violent—he's known to burn his enemies alive in 55-gallon drums. The Zetas have spread terror through Mexico in the brutal drug war as they’ve made their name displaying bodies of their murdered victims throughout the country. Trevino Morales’s capture is thought to be the first major blow against organized crime by President Enrique Peña Nieto, whose campaign promised to drive down crime figures.
