    2015-06-23 UK: Magna Carta and protecting Liberty - total denial of public access to prisoners' booking records
    ======================================
    Are the people of the UK asleep? Your gov is most likely keeping secret prisoners... You got to stand up for your rights!
    In a visit to Wormwood Scrubs prison near London attempt was made yesterday to access the prisoners' booking records. Absent public access to prisoners' booking records, there is no way to safeguard the fundamentals of the Magna Carta - that government cannot deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law!
    RESULTS:
    1) ALL VISITORS FORCED TO ENTER BIOMETRIC DATABASE
    We arrived during visiting hours. And the first surprise was that all visitors, family members of prisoners, etc, are forced to enter a biometric database before entering the prison. There is on location a machine for taking digital fingerprints and facial photos for the database. Obviously, family members and visitors are not suspects in any crime. So why this universal database entry of visitors?
    2) NO ACCESS AT ALL TO PRISONERS' BOOKING DATA.
    Any access to booking records was flatly denied at the prison's office. In case you want to know if someone is in prison in the UK, and where, you need to call a phone number (legal information by phone only is naturally suspect), and they may decide to provide the information, based on their criteria: PRISONER LOCATOR: 01216262773

    Strangely:
    a) One can find online booking records of Wormwood Scrubs prison from some 100 years ago.
    b) One can find online the report of "Surprise Inspection of HM Wormwoom Scrubs Prison", where security detail records were inspected, where medical records were inspected, but I could not find a word regarding inspecting the records to ensure that all prisoners are lawfully held in confinement.

Devil's Advocate said...

Just to play devil's advocate, and to ask some questions which may be on people's minds after reading this: if, as you contend, there are possibly scores of prisoners who are being unlawfully confined in UK, why have none of these people gone to human rights groups, or media, or any other relevant authorities, etc? Do you believe it is because they are denied any communication with the outside world? If so, what about the prisoner's friends and families, why don't they approach human right's groups or media etc? Do you believe it is because the family and friends actually do not know the relevant party has even been imprisoned? To the prisoner's friends and families, is the prisoner just a missing person's case? Please elaborate, thank you.
